Hey Friends,
For those of you that know (and especially those that don't!) I released my very first book in June of this year! It's called Growing Wings, and it's meant to be a companion for everyone on their individual journeys of growth. It was in the works for a long time (over a year!) so it's very exciting to finally have it out in the world!
In July, while I was still very excited about Growing Wings, I had an idea for a second poetry book. No other book idea has felt as easy as this one was to create-- I thought of the title almost instantly, and designed a cover I was satisfied with in under a week (this is all a stark contrast to Growing Wings, in which it took me months of indecisiveness, changing and undoing then redoing and scrapping completely and starting over to figure out my book's layout!). With a vision in mind, I immediately created a new document and began typing my heart out.
Now, here we are in early August, with 70 pages of Book 2, and I am SO NERVOUS but SO EXCITED!! It's an even more vulnerable and transparent than the first one; in which I will be advocating passionately for mental health from the perspective of faith. And while I can't share the title or cover just yet, I can tell you some themes to expect in this upcoming book:
~ nature (specifically, spring time!)
~ poems written to younger me
~ candid thoughts
~ nostalgia
~ conversations with God
~ heavy poems about mental health struggles
~ the idea and process of healing
~ and much more :')
It's so therapeutic to be writing this book. Everything just seems to flow naturally, because I'm writing from my heart, not writing for other people or letting myself be intimidated by the "taboo topics" that people expect you to always keep to yourself. I want to provide relatability and encouragement for everyone who reads my words; to inspire more people to be brutally honest and genuine. I know it's uncomfortable, I know it can feel dangerous or embarrassing, there's so many fears to wade through and judgmental people to push past, but I feel sure and passionate that this is a message the Lord wants me to share. And to remind myself of, with every poem I write.
Final thoughts: I'm incredibly excited about the process of this second book, and will be updating you throughout! If you're interested in reading excerpts from this upcoming book or my first one, I would recommend you follow my Instagram! :) I share the above and more on there, and I'm definitely more active on that platform than this blog.
Thanks for reading this! Much love to you all!
